and Mills County Cities


Mills County -

Loess Hills Humane Society has animal control responsibilities.

Who to call?

Animal Control

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Evenings and Weekends  911 for emergencies – i.e., bite incidents, report of vicious or dangerous animal, or other situations where there is a danger to humans or other animals. Animal control officer is on call to assist the Mills County Sheriff's Department.

Cities of Hastings, Henderson,
Pacific Junction, and Silver City


Loess Hills Humane Society has animal control responsibilities.

City of Glenwood is responsible for enforcement of its animal control ordinances. LHHS will assist the City with animal control if called in by the Glenwood Police Department.

911 for emergencies - Loess Hills Humane Society cannot respond

Please note the following guidelines apply:


  • You must be at least 15 years old
  • You must be willing to commit to a minimum of 8 hours per month
  • You must be willing to make a commitment of at least 6 months
  • You must attend an orientation and training session
